D.O. Rueda: Food and drink PR and influencer marketing campaigns

THE CHALLENGE

Our brief for DO Rueda is to introduce this region’s wines to the UK in fresh and surprising ways. Known worldwide for its Verdejo grape varietal, the Rueda wineries are often overlooked by the wine establishment but offer wonderful, easy drinking white wines for young wine lovers.

OUR APPROACH

To bring D.O. Rueda wines to life in an engaging way, we took a leaf from the rise of La Vielle Ferme aka “chicken wine”, a wine brand that has taken younger audiences by storm.

Inspired by the accessibility of chicken wine, we decided to develop a series of slogans to describe Rueda and the Verdejo grape.

With slogans such as “It’ll be Rueda not to,” and “Verdejo all day O”, we designed and developed them into beautiful posters, leaflets and cards and used these for creative activations for digital and social audiences, jumping on social trends to insert Rueda’s wonderful wines into the world of young professionals.

One campaign was inspired by the growing social media trend of crisp charcuterie boards. Our “Crisp & Sip” social campaign was designed to showcase Rueda’s versatility through unexpected yet highly shareable pairings.

We worked with Neil Ridley, aka ‘The Crisp Sommelier’, to create two bespoke crisp board recipes, playful flavour combinations to be paired with Verdejo and Gran Vino de Rueda wines, creating content that our team took to digital media and influencers.

THE RESULTS

Our Crisp & Sip pairings were loved by influencers who created Instagram Reels and Stories using the curated recipes and wine pairings, reaching over half a million followers with an average engagement rate of 72% and an average of 107K interactions per post.

Across digital media, our campaign generated placements across food and lifestyle media, linking back to recipes and wine pairings on the DO Rueda site.

Hello Seva

Crisp and Sip is just one of many campaigns that we now create for D.O. Rueda in the UK. Our work has resulted in increased awareness and strong growth of Rueda Verdejo in the UK with sales increasing by 6.65% year on year. This increase is particularly significant against a backdrop of declining wine consumption in the UK and European markets.
